C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire reaffirmed its commitment to innovation and the development of intellectual property by hosting the Conference of Heads of National Intellectual Property Offices of the OAPI region (HIPOC), on June 4 and 5, 2026, in Abidjan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This high-level meeting brought together the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Daren Tang, the Director General of the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI), Denis Bohoussou, the Heads of the National Intellectual Property Offices of OAPI member states, as well as numerous stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discussions highlighted the strategic role of intellectual property in economic growth, business competitiveness, and the development of innovation. Participants also examined the challenges related to startup financing, the commercialization of research results, technology transfer, and capacity building for innovation stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the sidelines of the conference, the WIPO Director General held working sessions with high-ranking Ivorian officials, including the Prime Minister. These meetings reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening the national intellectual property system to better support creators, researchers, inventors, and entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The holding of this conference and the official visit of the WIPO Director General demonstrate the excellent cooperation between C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, WIPO, and OAPI, as well as the growing interest in intellectual property as a driver of economic transformation and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
