The Minister of Trade, Industry, and Handicrafts, Kalil Konat\u00e9, received representatives from the Ivoire Acier Group and the B5 Group at his office on Friday, June 12, 2026. They presented him with a major investment project aimed at strengthening the metallurgical and pharmaceutical sectors in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prior to this meeting, the investors conducted a site visit to the locations slated to host the future industrial facilities, led by the Director General of Industry. The project includes the construction of a steel plant at kilometer marker 47 on the Northern Highway and a rolling mill at kilometer marker 24, in the industrial zone developed by ARISE Ivoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ultimately, these facilities will enable the production of reinforcing steel and other metallurgical products for the national and sub-regional markets, while generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Presenting the project’s ambitions, the Chairman and CEO of the Ivoire Acier Group, Mukesh Thakwani, emphasized his group’s commitment to making a lasting contribution to C\u00f4te d’Ivoire’s industrial development through local production that meets international quality standards. He indicated that the first phase of the project is expected to be inaugurated in December 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CEO also announced investments in the pharmaceutical sector, with the development of drug manufacturing activities and, eventually, vaccine production, to contribute to strengthening the country’s industrial and health sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Welcoming this initiative, Minister Kalil Konat\u00e9 noted that metallurgy and pharmaceuticals are among the strategic sectors identified by the Government in its industrialization policy.
