Ivory Coast and South Africa have taken a further step in strengthening their economic cooperation with the initialing, this Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in Abidjan, of the terms of reference establishing the Joint Committee responsible for implementing the Trade and Investment Cooperation Agreement linking the two countries since 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The document was initialed, in the presence of the Minister of Trade, Industry and Handicrafts, Kalil Konat\u00e9, by Ms. Zanele Mkhize, Director General of the Export Division of the South African Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, and Mr. Tour\u00e9 Baba, Director General of Foreign Trade of Ivory Coast, during a meeting with the South African delegation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This progress is the culmination of a process initiated several months ago to operationalize the agreement ratified in July 2022 in Pretoria. Upon taking office, Minister Kalil Konat\u00e9 made accelerating the implementation of economic cooperation agreements a priority, instructing his staff to remove administrative and technical obstacles in order to give concrete substance to the commitments made between the two states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ms. Zanele Mkhize welcomed the progress made by both parties and reaffirmed her country’s commitment to maintaining this momentum. \u00ab\u00a0We are ready to collaborate with C\u00f4te d’Ivoire to advance our economic cooperation agreement.
