As part of the Conference of Heads of Intellectual Property Offices of the OAPI Region (HIPOC), held on June 4 and 5, 2026, in Abidjan, the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, Daren Tang, arrived in Côte d’Ivoire on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. This high-level visit reflects the importance given to Côte d’Ivoire within international intellectual property bodies and testifies to the country’s growing leadership in this strategic field.
During his visit, Mr. Daren Tang will meet with several high-ranking Ivorian officials, including Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, Vice-President of the Republic; Robert Beugré Mambé, Prime Minister; Kalil Konaté, Minister of Trade, Industry, and Handicrafts; and other government authorities.
These meetings will strengthen the dialogue on the role of intellectual property in promoting innovation, business competitiveness, the valuation of creative works, and the acceleration of economic development.
By hosting the HIPOC Conference and welcoming the Director General of WIPO, Côte d’Ivoire reaffirms its commitment to a knowledge-based economy, innovation, and creativity, while consolidating its position as a key player in the promotion of intellectual property in Africa.
