The Minister of Trade, Industry, and Handicrafts, Kalil Konaté, conducted a working visit on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, to the Yopougon industrial zone to assess the progress of several major industrial projects undertaken by the Universal Industrie group.

This initiative aligns with the government’s policy of promoting industrialization, which has been established as a strategic priority to accelerate the structural transformation of the Ivorian economy, stimulate the creation of sustainable jobs, and strengthen the competitiveness of the national productive sector.

During this visit, the Minister observed investments estimated at nearly 200 billion CFA francs, including the construction of a new steel plant and a green cement production unit. These structuring projects demonstrate the dynamism of the Ivorian industrial sector and Côte d’Ivoire’s growing attractiveness to investors.

Welcoming the ambition and commitment of the project promoters, Kalil Konaté reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting industrial initiatives that create added value. “The local processing of raw materials is a key lever for strengthening the competitiveness of the national economy, increasing exports, reducing dependence on imports, and generating sustainable jobs,” he emphasized.

The Minister also stressed the need to strengthen the partnership between the State and the private sector to accelerate the implementation of industrial projects with a strong economic and social impact. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to creating an environment conducive to productive investments and to supporting companies that contribute to the local processing of resources and the country’s industrial development.
