CIRCULAR ECONOMY: PRESENTATION OF THE FINAL REPORT ON THE USED OIL RECYCLING CENTER IN N’DOTRÉ

Abidjan, February 5, 2026 – The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Handicrafts, through the Directorate General for the Promotion of SMEs and Handicrafts (DGPPMEA), presented the final report of the pre-feasibility study for the construction of a used oil recycling center at the modern N’Dotré site (2CGN) this Thursday at the Novotel Abidjan Plateau. This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to promoting sustainable and innovative solutions for industrial waste management and strengthening the circular economy in Côte d’Ivoire.

The study was conducted by CHEIL ENGINEERING in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Korea. She was commended by the Chief of Staff, representing the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Handicrafts, who emphasized the scientific and technical quality of the work carried out. He also highlighted the strategic importance of the project, both for environmental protection and for structuring and modernizing the used oil sector in the country.

The presentation detailed the study’s findings, demonstrating the need to adopt modern recycling technologies and efficient systems for collecting and processing used oils. The project aims to strengthen the sector’s efficiency, limit the environmental impact of industrial waste, and create new economic opportunities, particularly for local SMEs and companies specializing in the recovery of recyclable resources.

This meeting brought together all stakeholders in the ecosystem: garage owners’ organizations, scrap metal dealers, auto dismantlers, technical experts, and public and private partners committed to promoting sustainable development. The discussions facilitated the sharing of experiences, the gathering of contributions, and the strengthening of collaboration among the various stakeholders in the sector.

Through this initiative, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Handicrafts reaffirms its commitment to supporting responsible, inclusive, and environmentally sound industrial development. It confirms its commitment to implementing structuring projects capable of contributing to ecosystem protection, resource recovery, and the strengthening of the circular economy in Côte d’Ivoire.

The N’Dotré recycling center thus represents a major step in the national policy for the sustainable management of industrial waste and illustrates the Ministry’s determination to promote innovative and effective solutions for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
