NATIONAL PROCESSING DAYS: FOCUS ON PROMOTING LOCAL FLOURS, A STRATEGIC ALTERNATIVE TO WHEAT

The Minister of Trade, Industry, and Handicrafts, Mr. Ibrahim Kalil Konaté, launched the 10th National Processing Days on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Technological Demonstration and Promotion Center (CDT) in Marcory Biétry (Abidjan). The ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESEC), Mr. Eugène Aka Ahoulé, as well as numerous stakeholders from the public and private sectors committed to promoting local agribusiness.

Under the theme “What role can local authorities play in promoting local flours as an alternative to wheat?”, this event aims to strengthen the local processing of agricultural products, stimulate industrialization, and reduce dependence on imports, while also promoting national products.

In his address, Minister Ibrahim Kalil Konaté reaffirmed the Government’s commitment, under the leadership of His Excellency Mr. Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic, to making industrial processing a strategic lever for creating added value, jobs, and food sovereignty. He commended the initiatives of the CDT (Departmental Training Center) and the commitment of small-scale processing stakeholders, the true drivers of local industrialization.

The President of the CESEC (Economic, Social and Environmental Council), Mr. Eugène Aka Ahoulé, emphasized the importance of synergy between local authorities, the State, and the private sector to strengthen local value chains and develop a competitive and sustainable agri-food industry.

From February 12 to 14, 2026, the National Processing Days will feature exhibitions of processed local products, thematic panels, and presentations of innovative solutions, all aimed at promoting “buying local” and enhancing the value of national agricultural sectors.

Through this initiative, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Handicrafts confirms its determination to support the rise of the agro-industrial transformation, a pillar of inclusive, sustainable growth serving the well-being of the Ivorian people.
