From June 29 to July 3, 2026, Abidjan will host the 4th African Food Safety Workshop, organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in collaboration with the Ivorian government, represented by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Handicrafts, through the National Laboratory for Quality Testing, Metrology and Analysis (LANEMA).
This continent-wide event will bring together experts, researchers, policymakers, laboratories, and technical partners from some thirty African countries and international organizations to strengthen scientific cooperation and national capacities in the area of food safety.
The workshop will focus on the use of modern analytical technologies, including nuclear and isotopic techniques, combating food contaminants, strengthening sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures, and harmonizing standards within the framework of the AfCFTA.
The workshop will also be an opportunity to showcase Ivorian expertise through the presentation of the results of the “Plat Attiéké” project, illustrating Côte d’Ivoire’s progress in the quality, traceability, and promotion of national food products.
