On Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Crafts held its budget kickoff ceremony in Plateau, attended by representatives from all departments within the ministry.
Representing Minister Kalil Konaté, Chief of Staff Raymond Laurent Assoua presented a positive assessment of the 2025 budget execution. This performance led to significant progress both in implementing reforms and in carrying out the projects outlined in the roadmap.
In terms of reforms, 2025 was marked by the adoption of the 2025–2028 National Trade Strategy. Regarding projects, several major initiatives were carried out, notably the implementation of the strategy to combat the high cost of living, the organization of the “Made in Côte d’Ivoire” fair, the recycling campaign for professional drivers, and the holding of the Ivorian Handicrafts Market (MIVA).
For the year 2026, eight priority reforms have been identified. These include the modernization of wholesale and retail markets, the development and regulation of e-commerce, and the adoption of a decree on the development of commercial infrastructure.
In terms of projects, the Ministry plans to continue capacity-building efforts within the framework of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), rehabilitate and equip the Bouaké wholesale market, construct five rural neighborhood markets, and acquire 5,000 weighbridges and 30,000 scales. The national strategy to combat the high cost of living will also be strengthened, as will preparations for the 18th U.S.–Africa Summit.
Through this new fiscal year, the Ministry reaffirms its determination to accelerate structural reforms, modernize commercial infrastructure, and enhance the impact of its actions for the benefit of the population and economic stakeholders.
