Under pouring rain, the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Handicrafts, Kalil Konaté, inaugurated the Valency International Group’s biochar production plant on Thursday, June 18, 2026. The plant is located in the PK 31 industrial zone of Attinguié. The ceremony was attended by several administrative, political, and technical figures, including the mayor of Anyama and the Director General of CEPICI, Solange Amichia.

On this occasion, the Minister hailed “a new step in the structural transformation of our economy,” emphasizing that this project illustrates the Government’s commitment to promoting sustainable industrialization based on innovation, local value creation, and the circular economy. He indicated that this is the first large-scale commercial unit dedicated to the production of biochar from cashew shells in Africa.

With an annual processing capacity of approximately 20,000 tons of cashew processing residue, the plant will produce nearly 6,000 tons of biochar per year. This innovative technology promotes the valorization of agricultural by-products into biochar, biofuels, and clean energy, thus contributing to the reduction of industrial waste and strengthening the competitiveness of the cashew sector.

The Minister then toured the facilities accompanied by representatives from Valency International and Revata Carbon. During this visit, he congratulated the project’s promoters for their commitment to the full valorization of the cashew sector and reaffirmed the Government’s support for innovative industrial investments that create jobs and wealth.

In this context, Minister Kalil Konaté reaffirmed Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to accelerating its transition to green industrialization, a driver of sustainable growth and structural transformation. “The potential is immense, the opportunities are real, and Côte d’Ivoire is resolutely committed to this path,” he declared with conviction.
